BINTULU (Oct 22, 2011): The three SPDP Divisions in Bintulu Parliamentary Constituency broke its silence today to throw their heavy-weight support behind party chairman Tan Sri William Mawan Ikon in the power wrangle involving the SPDP 5 group.

In a press statement given out, the six-point resolution shows the decision of these divisions is the undivided solid support because it comes from Bintulu that make up of three state seats of Kidurong, Jepak and Kemena.

There are 11 units in Kemena with three women sections and one youth section, 10 units in Kidurong with three women's sections and three young women's sections (Puteri) and eight units in Jepak with three women’s and three youth’s sections.

Leading party members of the three divisions in the press conference today to hand out the statement were Kidurong chairman Senator Pau Chiong Ung, Kemena Division chairman Liew Ah Lek, Jepak chairman Rayong Bayak and Kidurong's youth and women chief Ling Tiew Ung and Yong Jing Siew respectively.

While throwing their weight behind William Mawan, the statement called on the party's Central Disciplinary Board to handle the matter with utmost urgency and care because the matter stirred by SPDP 5 had affected the image, discipline and well-being of the party.

"Ultimately, this will affect the harmony within the Barisan Nasional, and we therefore call on BN leadership both at State and Federal levels to show concern and help resolve the matter to maintain the greater harmony and unity within the Barisan Nasional."

The three Bintulu Divisions said the party's highest authority in its central committee should act accordingly when the Central Disciplinary Board had recommended the action to them.

On a police report lodged by longhouse chieftains in Baram alleging they were being forced to sign certain document linked to the SPDP 5 matter, the three Bintulu Divisions hoped the police would probe the allegation thoroughly and act fast.

"We call for urgent actions against the few who stirred the storm in the tea cup to maintain the harmony within the party and in the Barisan Nasional fold."
