| KUCHING (Nov 6, 2011): Bintulu MP Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing
arrived here yesterday to visit the Bidayuh community in Kedup and Tebedu
to boast the spirit of SPDP members in serving the people.
Merging into the community, he listened to the people’s pleas and understood
their aspiration in SPDP.
He also inspected the ground work among the party’s 400-plus members
on their preparation for the coming general election to back up Barisan
Nasional in Serian Constituency.
Meeting the people in Sorak Mawang Mult-purpose Hall, he called
on party members to put their heart in the community.
“Never only show up when party leaders are here, or else, we shall be
defeated in such a negative attitude.”
Tiong however was confident in the service of party members, saying
it was clear they had helped BN to win the two state seats there recently.
“Keep it up to back up Serian MP Datuk Richard Riot Jaem in fighting
for another glorious victory for Barisan Nasional.”
He said when the people had problems, they should be there for them
promptly because serving the community is the spirit of both the Barisan
Nasional and SPDP.
He said if they did not listen to the grouses on the ground, it would
be too late when the people expressed their dissatisfaction in the votes.
“In an election campaign, we cannot give promises because by then, the
parliament has been dissolved.”
He encouraged the people to speak out constantly and bring up the needs
of their community.
For party leaders, he said they must not see themselves as people of
higher levels, because people would not work with arrogant leaders.
He assured that when they served the people wholeheartedly, the party
would back them up.
“We must remain in one spirit with the people. Even if there are arrogant
leaders and those who come with personal agenda, brush them aside, for
they will be rejected by the people.”
In the meet-the-people session, the two party chairmen there thanked
SPDP for laying water pipes for underground water.
They hoped with SPDP’s support, more basic rural infrastructures would
be built, like water and power supply, recreational facilities and others.
Tiong announced he would chip in RM500 monthly for the rental of the
people service centre there.
He also gave out RM1, 000 to help out in the expenses of the party and
RM3, 000 for Women Institution, local Bidayuh Traditional Association and
Pocho-Pocho Dancing Group.
On allocations for youth’s and women’s sections there, Tiong said
he would instruct SPDP Youth and Women Sections to give them out in their
visit.
Among those present yesterday were Chief Minister political secretary
Liew Ah Lek, Paul Igai, rural council members and SPDP Tebedu chairman
Lawas Subang and Kedup chairman Edwin Manong.
