| BINTULU (Oct 22, 2011): Bintulu MP Datuk
Seri Tiong King today expressed his disappointment over the slow process
of the government officials and agency in giving aids to the folks.
Speaking to the residents of Rumah Ajah Unggang in his tour of duty, he said these officials had promised the farmers to help set up rubber plantation with modern technology, give petrol subsidies and aids to flood victims. He said he was saddened that until today, these were just promises. “My service centre has been going round to collect signatures for the applications and processing the procedures for these aids, but until today, the promises have just been candied words. We have spent so much time and energy to go through the application process with the people.” Tiong said there were outsiders who had gone round among the longhouse community to stir their sentiments over these matters. “I am happy the longhouse folks have not been shaken by these irresponsible people, and I thank the folks for standing firm with me as their representative in the BN Government.” He also thanked them for their faith in the services provided by his service centre and he himself, saying the people knew the promises had come from the officials who were not BN members. For the officials who had been slow at work, the Bintulu MP said he would pull them out, as he regarded them as black sheep whose attitude had tarnished the trustworthy image of the BN Government. Tiong, who had sincerely admitted the mistakes and negligence of these officials, received praises from the folks for not covering up the faults. The residents said Tiong had been working with them towards rural development, and they had felt his heart for the well being of the people. They said this had been proven in Tiong’s allocation of rural development funds and the MP had himself been charting out rural development with the people. They said they had seen development projects supervised by Tiong being materialised one after the other. Tiong assured he would check on the slow process of these aid promises. He thanked the folks for rallying their support in BN. He also assured them the prime minister was an open-minded leader and what he and his government had been promised would materialise. He said he would keep on pressing on the promised aids from the department and agency concerned. “When I have the answer, I shall notify
you in writing.”
