Amendment bill to the Copyright Act 1987 to be tabled next sitting, BNBBC lead by Tiong voice out opinion and view received

 


Kuala Lumpur: The Minister of Domestic Trade, Co-operative and Consumerism Malaysia, Dato Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob has agreed to have full studies over all opinion and view raised by member of Barisan Nasional Back Bencher Council (BNBBC) following a meeting requested by the council which held recently on Monday.

The ministry which reaches a consensus with the council after the meeting also assured members of BNBBC, more meeting will be held to discuss all the arising issues in future for the matter.

During the session, the proposal of the amendment bill to the Copyright Act 1987 which shall be tabled soon in this parliament sitting, may table in next sitting if the all arising matter could not be fully studied as requested by the Chairman of BNBBC, Dato’ Seri Tiong King Sing and agreed by the minister too. 

It was to ensure before all views or opinions raised and received from general public were fully taken into account for and studied before it was tabled in the house. 

Comparative views over the proposed amendment with previous act also rose during the session.

Earlier, members of BNBBC had received numerous concerns rose by operators or proprietors of foods & beverage outlets, budget hotel, public vehicles and so fore, have forwarded to the council to be highlighted to the ministry concern. 

In their opinions, an enforcement system with more transparency and justification for the collector shall be considered, so as to protect the common interest of all relevant parties. 

Some commented enforcement was not been carrying out fairly whereby some confused by too many agencies were allegedly to have involved in the copyright matters. 

Meanwhile, grouses over artists or composers who fail to received their copyrights returns also received. 

Besides, legal phrases and terms of applicable act also urged to be refined for the better understanding of all parties.
