29/12/2010:Tiong with community leaders to bid farewell to newly promoted Bintulu police chief Sulaiman Abdul Razak 
  • Bintulu: The member of parliament for Bintulu Dato’ Seri Tiong King Sing with other community leaders bid their farewell to new promoted Bintulu police chief Sulaiman bin Abdul Razak at a private luncheon this afternoon.
  • Sulaiman is promoted to rank of Assistant Commission of Police (ACP) and expected to report duty by January 1 at Kuching Police Headquarter administration section.

  • Bintulu:  The Member of Parliament for P217 Bintulu Dato Seri Tiong King Sing urged parents to inculcate potential of their children creativity as lots of invention might merely sparked off by a simple dream. 
  • For example, he said kite although kite flying can trace back to some 3000 years ago from merely a leisure hobby, it has later develop later as a component of military, science and arts.

  • A Shouting match broke out between backbenchers and members of non-governmental organisations (NGOs) with Datuk Idris Haron (BN Tangga Batu), claiming he was man-handled and insulted with unparliamentary words.
  • It started when a group of Pakatan Rakyat MPs led by M . Kulasegaran (DAP Ipoh Barat) met the NGOs at noon at the Senate Lounge to discuss the disbursement of Public Service Department scholarships to Indian students...NST Paper Cutting.

28/05/2010: Tiong: Students claim exam questions too tough 
  • BINTULU: Member of Parliament for Bintulu Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing said he would meet officers of the Ministry of Education to discuss the tough questions set by the Examination Board for Chinese language papers in PMR and SPM examinations. “I have been told that many students choose not to sit for the SPM Chinese language papers as they are too difficult to answer,'he said.
  • Tiong hoped that it was not the Examination Board’s intention to discourage students to take up Chinese subjects at national schools as learning one’s mother tongue is advocated by the government.
25/05/2010: Tiong: Healing must come from the heart 
  • BINTULU: Nurses are reminded of the important role they play in providing healthcare services.
  • Member of Parliament for Bintulu, Dato Seri Tiong King Sing also advised nurses to smile and be friendly to their patients. Smiling is known to have therapeutic effects on patients and can help them to recover speedily,'  he said.
  • Patients could take a longer time to heal if they were treated in an unfriendly environment, he added.

22/04/2010: Amendments of Road Transportation Acts Pull Off, objected by BNBBC
  • The Government has decided to withdraw several proposed amendments to the Road Transport Act 1987, including those relating to fines for traffic offences and raising the legal driving age from 16 to 17. 
  • The second reading of the Road Transport Amendment Bill has been deferred to the next Dewan Rakyat meeting in June. 
  • The Barisan Nasional Backbenchers Council (BNBBC) had objected to some of the proposed changes, including the move to increase the maximum fine from RM300 to RM1000.

  • Bintulu: Three units of internet-linked computer will be installed at the People's Service Centre of Bintulu Member of Parliament Dato Seri Tiong King Sing for the convenience of students, school leavers and job seekers. 
  • Tiong said no charge would be imposed as users could enjoy the service for free when they browse the websites for reference or to download application forms while applying for enrolment to higher learning institutions or vacncies online.

27/03/2010 : Tiong urges Indian Community to remain united
  • The Member of Parliament for Bintulu urged the Indian community in Bintulu to remain united for not to be easily instigated by certain parties in the country, especially to join the extreme movement by ignoring all the negotiation channels provided by the government. 
  • Tiong stressed this before declared the opening of the First Annual General Meeting of Bintulu Indian Association as Everly Hotel this evening. 
  • "I have to admit that government of Barisan Nasional may overlook, or careless in making some mistake while the policies being implemented"
23/03/2010:BNBBC Tiong urged Bank Negara Malaysia To withhold proposed new scheme to cover the third party insurance plans
  • The Barisan Nasional Backbenchers Council (BNBBC) shares the concern and anxiety of the Consumers Association of Subang & Shah Alam Malaysia (CASSA) and the Bar Council Malaysia that Bank Negara Malaysia plans to introduce a new scheme to cover the third party bodily injury and death which is indicated that it will finalize for implementation by the second half of 2010.
  • BNBBC strongly urge Bank Negara Malaysia to seriously reconsider and withhold the said proposal as we believe the said scheme once implemented will alter adversely the landscape of motor vehicle insurance to the detriment of motor accident victims, their families, dependents, especially to the poor families in general. 
06/03/2010: Tiong announces Immediate relief assistance to Semanok Fire Victims
 
  • The Member of Parliament for Bintulu Dato’ Seri Tiong King Sing announced an immediately relief funds including building material for temporary shelter for more than 100 fire victims, made homeless by a midnight blaze on Wednesday fire.
  • The tragedy resulted a 73 years old man burn to death took place here at Rumah Unjie, 43 Kilometers off Bintulu town. The deceased was said to have attempted to save his valuable belongings after rushing back to his room.
  • However, Tiong urged the longhouse to immediately determine the date of reconstruction of the proposed new longhouse via its committee meeting.

26/02/2010: Tiong Lambasted Nansian, Marsing, urges not to name the merger move for the sake of Sarawakian
  • The Treasurer Genereal of Sarawak Progressive Democratic Party (SPDP) Dato’ Seri Tiong King Sing urged both the President of Parti Rakyat Sarawak (PRS) Datauk James Jemut Marsing and Datuk Peter Nansian,  leaders of the so called dissenting group of the party to stop the Duke Stroll Show by naming the immediate merger was for the sake of both parties and Sarawakian. 
  • While Marsing claimed that he would not intervene in the SPDP party affairs, he shall look what he is doing now!” 

  • As Nansian described Datuk Seri Mawan, Datuk Nyarok as their good party leaders but strongly control by “certain personality” in the party, the group shall ask is it ethical to by-passing them for the merger discussion which aimed to oust their leadership?
25/02/2010: Judat did not aware phone conversation shifted to hand-free mode
  • The State Assemblyman for Meluan Wong Judat disclosed that he did not aware of phone conversation had been shifted to hand-free mode by the dissenting group of Sarawak Progressive Democratic Party (SPDP), labeling him as one of the party leader to support the move. 
  • He was questioned by members of press here while seemed to join the Chinese New Year visiting program with leaders of SPDP at Bintulu here. 

  • Wong said he was shocked to learn the fact following the next day publicity in local dailies.

24/03/2010: Tiong Challenges Tike Lafe to open the Minutes of Supreme Council Meeting
  • Referring to the statement by the Vice Chairman of SPDP Datuk Tike Lafe, a member of Group of Eights ushering merging agenda with PRS openly, Treasurer General of the party Dato’ Seri Tiong King Sing challenged Tike to open the minute and attendant list of Supreme Council meeting. 
  • If Tike refused to believe who in fact strongly against the merging, he was most welcome to take the challenge and be it made known to the party members, rakyat of Mas Gading to see who is telling lies” said Tiong. 
  • While question by Tike that he was even not a member of Merging Committee led by Datuk Peter Nyarok, Tiong explained that why attendant list of Supreme Council become crucial and aforesaid matter had been reported a few time by the committee to the council.

  • The Treasurer General of Sarawak Progressive Democratic Party (SPDP) Dato’ Seri Tiong King Sing stressed that leaders of both parties, as well as their members should be well informed  to decide on proposed merging. 
  • As SPDP is a multiracial party, no one will have the final even the party president say except a final resolution derive via Triennial General Assembly Meeting (TGA) or Extra Ordinary General Meeting by it members through their delegates respectively” 
  • With a so call “Group of Eights” proposed merging without majority blessing of SPDP, leaders of State Barisan Nasional component party shall well aware of its damage to both parties for future discussion over merging agenda” 
     
    23/02/2010: Tiong Urges the Group of Eight to immediate stop the "rush merger"
    • BINTULU: Treasurer General of Sarawak Progressive Dmocratic Party (SPDP) Dato Seri Tiong King Sing urged the group calling for an "immediate merger" with Party Rakyat Sarawak (PRS) should immediately stop to mislead the party members and grassroots. 
    • He was commented on the present party squabble whereby a group of eight led by the party’s senior vice-president Datuk Peter Nansian Ngusie, vice president Datuk Sylvester Entrie (former secretary general of SPDP) with six others threaten to immediately merge with PRS. 

    • In fact, Tiong revealed the issue of merging with PRS had been deliberated by the Supreme Council some times ago and a committee comprising of 5 persons led by party Deputy President Datuk Peter Nyarok was formed then.

  • More than 30,000 people greeting the MP and Senator a happy and prosperous Chinese Tiger Year
  • BINTULU: Thousands of people from all walks of life turned up for the Chinese New Year open house at Bintulu Civic Centre here yesterday.
  • The people started coming in as early as 8am and the civic centre was continuously packed with people until 12.30pm.
  • Hosted by Bintulu MP Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing and Senator Pau Chiong Ung, the CNY open house was graced by Head of State Tun Datuk Patinggi Abang Muhammad Salahuddin and wife Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Norkiah.
