Tiong urges the Group of Eight
to stop the Duke Stroll Show for merging

BINTULU: The Treasurer Genereal of Sarawak Progressive Democratic Party (SPDP) Dato’ Seri Tiong King Sing urged both the President of Parti Rakyat Sarawak (PRS) Datauk James Jemut Marsing and Datuk Peter Nansian,  leaders of the so called dissenting group of the party to stop the Duke Stroll Show by naming the immediate merger was for the sake of both parties and Sarawakian.

“While Marsing claimed that he would not intervene in the SPDP party affairs, he shall look what he is doing now!”

“As Nansian described Datuk Seri Mawan, Datuk Nyarok as their good party leaders but strongly control by “certain personality” in the party, the group shall ask is it ethical to by-passing them for the merger discussion which aimed to oust their leadership?”

Tiong lambasted statement of Nansian today after requesting by members of press to comment on both explanations for the movement to expedite merger of both parties in today dailies.

Tiong had been carrying out his Chinese New Year visiting to local community and societies leaders recently at Bintulu.

“I would like to kindly urged again Nansian, as well as other members of the group to immediately stop such comments which as if underestimating the intelligence of majority party members and Rakyat”

“When somebody would like to reflect their muscle after being promoted to the post of assistant minister under party’s blessing, yet acting to be-litter the others, I think their sincerity, comradeship and spirit of dedication in politic shall be best judge by the people”

“How do you expect to gain confidence from Rakyat, including those from Tasik Biru, Marudi while what you are doing is absolutely contradicting to your act?”

Tiong also challenged Nansian as well as Marsing to disclose who was the “certain personality” in the party that had been described as stumbling block to the merger?

Referring to a National Chinese Dailies, Tiong said Nansian even described both “good leaders” namely Mawan and Nyarok were control by “Big Taukeh behind the curtain”, that why they failed to proceed further on the merger proposal.

“If so, why the group especially Nansian did not want to reveal all these in the past Triennial General Assembly Meeting (TGA) to seek the justification of all the delegates?”

“While he further claimed that the merger proposal is blessed by Barisan Nasional, as well as the willingness of certain group of leaders would like to see the expedite progress, I am surprised why all these “hearsay” only emerge today but not in the past meeting of Supreme Council Meeting? ”

Tiong felt it was lucky that the Deputy President of the party Datuk Peter Nyarok was still physically fit there to provide explanation or clarification for anyone who would like to know the fact of the merger.

Nyarok was also the Chief of Merger Proposal Group of SPDP with PRS.

“Please stop tarnishing your old home even you dislike it now”

Tiong described a hush merger claimed for the sake of great unity and consolidation might result to bigger split later, if all the term and reference were not drawn well in the beginning stage.

“When a proper, mutual term and reference was not achieved, all these proposal shall be treated as merely talk only”

Tiong further pointed out that one should realize that merger of both parties were not only with the present top leaderships, it would extend to its statewide divisions, branches, sub-branches as well.

“The group has to ask among themselves, are we or even PRS has been well prepared for it?”

For example, he said if previous members of SPDP would like Datuk Seri Mawan to be the new party president, whether members or leaders of PRS would agree with it?

“If we just merge it in a rush manner, can we tolerate or agree to have a new party with 4 deputy presidents, 10 Senior Vice Presents with 20 Vice Presidents?”

“Previously, I heard there was even a proposal to have two party presidents to facilitate the process of merging”

Although some might claim that they were the ones insisted to merge, Tiong said it was best to refer to Nyarok to reveal who against the merger proposal even in the beginning.

“May be some may afraid of their key post in party or government may lost once both parties merged”

Tiong said Peter Nansian was never new to Bintulu people as he had been serving as Assistant General Manager for Bintulu Development Authority (BDA) before.

However, Tiong felt sad that he was still received against this former Assistant General Manager from the people.

“Do I need to reveal all these complaints and grouses if necessary? As one has claimed that he is so sincere to serve the party, people and nation?”
