Tiong: Only TGA or EGM decide the proposed Merger, not President or Supreme Council 
 

 

BINTULU: The Treasurer General of Sarawak Progressive Democratic Party (SPDP) Dato’ Seri Tiong King Sing stressed that leaders of both parties, as well as their members should be well informed  to decide on proposed merging. 

“As SPDP is a multiracial party, no one will have the final even the party president say except a final resolution derive via Triennial General Assembly Meeting (TGA) or Extra Ordinary General Meeting by it members through their delegates respectively” 

“With a so call “Group of Eights” proposed merging without majority blessing of SPDP, leaders of State Barisan Nasional component party shall well aware of its damage to both parties for future discussion over merging agenda” 

Tiong was responded to members of press on today statement by Datuk James Jemut Marsing who confirmed to meet the group of eights led by Datuk Peter Nansian tomorrow while paying his Chinese New Year visit to local society leader here. 

“When spirit of togetherness as well as comrades of State Barisan Nasional is concerned, is it a proper way or ethical to critic our component party leaders, commented he “dislike” certain leaders in present SPDP line-up?” 

He described the merging of both parties such be liked a happy and yet legal marriage, no one shall be forced to accept any condition that may not in he or her fovour. 

“Why merging of both parties only become an urgent matter until now, especially to certain leaders of SPDP and PRS?” 

“While rumour being mongered that aforesaid move is just aiming to oust the present leadership of Datuk Seri Mawan, one shall ask majority of our SPDP members whether they do agree with the move” 

Tiong said the discussion over the proposed merging was not a new issue in the party, a few meeting had been called but he was surprised that both leaders in the Group of Eights were the one who against the proposal earlier. 

“If the merging aims to foster a better relationship by strengthening the BN forces, for the sake of the well-being of Sarawak rakyat, I do not see any reason why our SDPD has to reject it” 

“Nevertheless, if one party has shown their disrespectful manner at the started point, I am not optimistic that discussion in future will bear any good result” 

Tiong said while one pointing finger to certain SPDP leaders who he might dislike in the line-up, he hoped one should look back to its own party whether all their members or leaders like him or not! 

Some elected representatives even too condemn his leadership by leaving the party at the end, he added. 

Meanwhile, Tiong also revealed he had received realizable information that certain group of party leaders allegedly had been resolving to “money politics”  to persuade divisional leaders to join the “merging move”. 

He also urged the Anti Corruption Agency should be aware of the matter and precautionary measure or action shall be taken. 

When asked about any action is to be taken against the eights, Tiong advised members of press are best to ask Mawan.
