BINTULU -Sarawak Progressive Democratic Party (SPDP) plans to set up units and sub-divisions statewide as part of its preparations for the upcoming state election. SPDP Senior vice-president Peter Nansian Ngusie said the units and sub-divisions would be responsible for the smooth running of the election machinery in the respective divisions. "We want to ensure that the Barisan Nasional doesn't lose any seat in the coming election and this would just be part of the preparation ," he said while officiating on behalf of SPDP president, Datuk William Mawan Ikom, at the closing of an election preparatory course organised b the party at Li Hua Hotel here yesterday. Over 200 party members and workers from throughout the State took part in the two-day course. Nansian also emphasised the importance of inter-BN component party temawork to ensure success in the election and called on the members to help with full commitment, adding that efforts of the Barisan Nasional candidates or party leaders would not be sufficient to ensure success without the help of the grassroots members. "Sucess in the election can never be achieved alone so the spirit of the Barisan Nasional must be subscribed at all times," he said. Ba' Kelalan State Assemblyman, Nelsaon Balang Rining; a political secretary to the Chief Minister, Paul Igai; and SPDP centre executive committee member, Liew Ah Lek, were among those present at the occasion. |
