11/09/2005: Unity As Foundation of Racial Harmony, Tiong.

BINTULU - Festive celebration has become an important factor to bring about unity and harmony among various races in the country like Malaysia.

“People of all races visit one another during the Open House either they are celebrating Hari Raya, Deepavali or Chinese New Year has become  the  typical  characteristic of Malaysia,” said Member of Parliament for P216 Bintulu Dato Seri Tiong King Sing. 

He attributed to the government untiring efforts to foster and promote  national integration in order to enhance mutual understanding and unifying its  populace who are of multi-racial. multi-religious and multi-cultural backgrounds.

“In today Malaysian society, we can vividly witnessing how there are Halal mooncakes are being sold in the market and children of Bumiputras parentage  also share the fun to play with  the lanterns during the Mooncake Festival  celebration,” noted Tiong. 

Tiong said this at the joint installation ceremony for the main committee, youth wing, women section and senior citizen section of Binutlu Ling clan Association at Li Hua Hotel Saturday evening.

His text of speech was read out by President of Federation of Bintulu Division Registered Chinese Associations Pau Chiong Ung as tiong was traveling aboard.

Tiong opined all Malaysians should be grateful that they were blessed to live in democratic and liberal country which was virtually free from natural disasters or catastrophes 

He said  Ling Clan Association could also complement government’s efforts  by interacting with other Non-Government Organisations or religious and  cultural  bodies of other races to strengthen relationship and understanding.

The newly  installed chairman of the association was  Ling Kong Sui who is to hold the post till the year 2007; the chairperson post for the Youth and Women section went to Chris Ling Leh Chiew and Ling Siew Lam respectively. Ling Teck Hai was sworn in as the chairperson for Senior Citizens Section.
