24/11/2005: Steps being taken to improve TV programmes

BINTULU:The Ministry of Information is taking steps to air quality news and entertainment programmes especially in RTM's TV1 and TV2 under the Ninth Malaysia Plan.

Its minister, Datuk Paduka Abdul Kadir Sheikh Fadzir, said the upgrading of RTM's visual quality would include the purchase of digital camera and fully-equipped vans for the production of TV programmes and improvement in news gathering via electronic means.

He said in this when replying to Bintulu Member of Parliament Dato Seri Tiong King Sing in parliament yesterday.  Tiong had asked the minister what steps the ministry had taken to improve the poor visual quality of programmes air over TV1 and TV2.

Abdul Kadir Sheikh Fadzir also explained that the poor reception and poor visual of programmes experienced in certain parts of Sarawak was due to geographical factor.

He said airing quality programmes over TV1 & TV2 was always the major concern of his ministry.

Abdul Kadir added his ministry would make serious efforts to upgrade the existing transmission towers.
