| BINTULU: The Head of State, Tun Datuk Patinggi Abang Haji Muhammad
Salahuddin and his wife, Toh Puan Hajah Norkiah were here since Monday
evening to extend Chinese New Year greetings to several local dignitaries.
Their Excellencies first stop was at the residence of Pemancha Ling Kong Mee at Bandar Jaya here where an evening reception was held. Members of the Bintulu Chinwoo Association was on hand to present lion and dragon dances performances. On Tuesday, the Head Of State and his wife continued their festive call on Kapitan Francis Toh at Taman Li Hua before proceeding to Beach Park at Tanjung Batu Road here to extend their wishes to SUPP Bintulu chairman, Hii Tiong Kuok. Prominent businessman, Dato Sri Yek Min Ek played host for the VVIPs at his residence at Taman Hock Lee and later businessman Pau Chiong Ung played the role at his residence at Bukit Orang. The VVIP visits continued to the residences of Bintulu Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry's deputy chairman, Sia Hiong Ngie and SPDP Kidurong Division chairman Thomas Ng, both at Taman Puteri, Sebiew Road. Tun Salahuddin concluded the visits by being entertained to a Chinese New Year luncheon hosted by the Bintulu Member of Parliament, Dato' Seri Tiong King Sing at a leading hotel here, which was attended by some 250 guests comprising heads of government departments, agencies, associations and clubs. Also in his entourage were Assistant Minister of Infrastructure Development and Communication, Dr Judson Sakai Tagal, Bintulu Resident, Ubaidullah Haji Abdul Latif and Bintulu Development Authority (BDA) general manager Haji Mohidin Ishak. The Head of State and his wife left for the State Capital Tuesday afternoon. |
