06/03/2004:Not to Hoodwinked by Blurred Politics, Tiong

BINTULU: The people have been urged not to be hoodwinked by blurred politics during this run-up period to the election that could lead them back into the less developed years.

A Sarawak Progressive Democratic Party (SPDP) Kemena youth chief Cr Ukar ak Ngelayan said the people should stick together and to reject those promoting blurred that could still be effective if it was in the 1960s or the 1970s.

"We are now in the era of politics of development and not the politics of the 1960s which were blurred and made by people who care only about themselves with no clear vision.

If these kind of politicians still going around trying to fool the rakyat, they would not be able to guide and could cause the rakyat to succumb in this current challenging world," he added when speaking at a dinner gathering organised by Barisan Nasional (BN) youth here on Friday.

Under politics of development, he added that the BN struggle is not towards fulfilling personal interests but to ensure a continuous progress and benefits for the rakyat regardless in urban or rural areas.

He warned that all the benefits could just "vanished in a blink" if politicians with blurred agenda and vying for personal interests are allowed to win in the election.

"Under the current political scenario, there is no room for blurred politic as this kind of politic has already died and should be buried forever," he added.

He said SPDP whom had replaced Sarawak National Party (SNAP) is an organisation of a bright future and over the last five years, SPDP treasurer-general Dato' Seri Tiong King Sing, had proven his capability to help the rakyat particularly in Bintulu.

Urging for the rejection of SNAP, he described it as a dying party which attempted to confuse rakyat into believing that they are still in BN. "They (claimed) to be able to help the rakyat but how could they do that when they could not help themselves," he added.

During the gathering, Grants from Tiong and Kemena state assemblyman Dr Stephen Rundi Utom totalling RM17,000 to the Bintulu Football Association (BIFA) were also handed over.

The grant came as an initiative to the association who had successfully guided Bintulu football team to win second position in the Sarawak Cup tournament last year.

Special assistant to Tiong, Teo Ho Ping, BN Bintulu youth chief Nyipa Tinggang, several community leaders and youth members from the State BN component parties were also present at the gathering.
