| BINTULU: A candidate with financial wealth will not necessarily be
able to serve the people effectively if he is more interested to make money
for himself rather than using it to help other people.
Bintulu Member of Parliament, Dato' Seri Tiong King Sing said that the financial capability of a candidate should also go along with sincere interests to strive for the best service for the people who would be making their choice in the upcoming election. "It is not a question of whether you are rich or not but the most important thing is you come out to help the rakyat to the best of abilities," he said during a dialogue session at Rh Suring, Ulu Sebauh on Tuesday evening. On a contrasting situation, he said there are individuals with sound financial position who were willing to gamble the future of the rakyats by using their wealth merely to fulfill their own personal desires. As the parliamentary election is just around the corner, he said these rich individuals would try to gather around and staking bets on the outcome of the election. While urging the people not let themselves being used by self-centred individuals, he only hoped the people would continue to be grateful with the Barisan Nasional which had been dedicated towards elevating their livelihood. Throughout his five-year tenure here, Tiong explained that he had created a service network that enabled the people to reach him to voice their problems and difficulties. Despite of certain times that he had to be away from his constituency, he said the service network would continue to operate with his staff being stationed strategically to attend to the needs of the people. On requests for the Ulu Sebauh road to be completely tar-sealed, Tiong pledged to have it to be considered during the mid-term review of the Eighth Malaysia Plan and he urged the people to be patient as the implementation could take time due to the substantial cost involved. |
