| BINTULU: Five Chinese independent schools here on Saturday received
the cheques for the amount totalling RM1.2 million issued by the Prime
Minister's Department that had been pledged earlier this month.
SK Sebiew Chinese and SRB Chung Hua Bintulu received the lion share
of the development grant with RM400,000 each, with SK Chung San Sebauh
and SJKC Siong Boon having RM150,000 each. SM Kai Dee, meanwhile, received
RM100,000.
Bintulu Deputy Resident, Indit Bangai was on hand to present the cheques
to the chairmen of the respective school's management boards in a ceremony
held at the Resident's Department conference room here Saturday.
Local Chinese community leader, Pemanca Ling Kong Mee witnessed the
ceremony.
Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi announced the outright grant for the
amount in a letter dated March 2 this year that he addressed to the then
Bintulu Member of Parliament, Dato' Seri Tiong King Sing, that was announced
during a dinner in conjunction with the eighth installation of office-bearers
for the Federation of Bintulu Chinese Schools Management Boards held on
March 6. |
