BINTULU: The people here have been urged to safeguard the benefits and better living standards that they had earned together over the last five years and reject the oppositions who merely keen to fulfill their political agendas,

Barisan Nasional Bintulu candidate Dato' Seri Tiong King paid tribute to the people of Bintulu for being able to render their cooperation throughout the last five years that enable the BN Government to implement projects for their benefits.

Speaking to launch a RT Kidurong Housing Fair on Sunday, Tiong said the people here had played their role positively to facilitate implementation of basic infrastructures and economic activities that had improved their living standard over the years.

"This situation should be left to continue so that the next generation of people in Bintulu will inherit them. At the same time, I urge the rakyat to safeguard this and not to let the oppositions to spoil what had been enjoyed in all these five years," he added.

He warned the people that the oppositions were resorting to all desperate tactics in trying to deny Barisan Nasional from winning in Bintulu but had no proper plans that could benefit the people in the long term.

One of these tactics were to give out cash in return for electorates to vote for the oppositions to secure victory in the election.

"But after the election, they will not be able to do that (giving cash) to the rakyat as they would not have the means to do so," he said, stressing that BN strongly rejecting such tactic but emphasising on the services that they could do for the people.

BN intention to render continuous services had been manifested by Tiong's move to create a Bintulu People's Service Centre to enable the rakyat here to obtain assistances from him on any problem that they are facing.

"In Barisan Nasional, we gave services that could generate long term benefits for the rakyat," he added.

In spite of the obvious improvement in the economic and social participations in Bintulu since Barisan Nasional wrested the seat from DAP in 1999, Tiong added that there are a lot more programmes for the people that had yet to be accomplished.

"Please allow Barisan Nasional to continue to accomplish the development programmes that will bring even a greater benefits for all the people in Bintulu," he added.

Apart from RPR Kidurong, Tiong also joined in to meet the people during a K3P programme organised at Sungai Plan Resettlement Area which was officiated by the Kemena assemblyman Dr Stephen Rundi ak Utom.
