BINTULU - Member of Parliament for Bintulu Dato' Seri Tiong King Sing reiterates the Barisan Nasional government is fair to all people irrespective of their social status.

"As long they walk within the law of the country, the government sures to look after their interests," he said.

Tiong dispelled the rumour circulating here lately that the well off people could break the law without being prosecuted because of their wealth.

He made the remark after reminding businessmen who were found operating their factories and workshops in commercial and residential areas here.

Tiong asked these operators to cooperate and move their premises to the industrial areas allocated by the local authorities.

"The Bintulu Development Authority (BDA) is most willing to assist those businessmen and they are even willing to fill the applications on their behalf and, to be extent to give them the option to rent the industrial lots for business operation provided they will eventually purchase the lots," said Tiong.

However, he was saddened to see that certain operators were carrying out industrial activities at Taman Desa some even occupying the whole stretch of backlane of the shoplots with heavy machineries.

Despite warning and summons being served on them by BDA, Tiong said they had refused to acknolwledge the summons.

Their refusal and confrontational stance was tatamount to challenging the government and the laws in the country.

"I'd like to stress here that this is my last reminder to them as the relevant authorities will soon take drastic action against them," he said, after making a courtesy call on BDA General Manager Haji Mohidi bin Ishak and senior officer of Natural Resources and Environment Board yesterday morning.

He said it would be too late for them to regret if their machineries were eventually confiscated by the relevant authorities.

Touching on the problems faced by Sarawak Tyres Association, Bintulu Branch and Bintulu Auto Mobile workshops Association to dispose off the used tyres and sludges, Tiong said he would personally write letter to the Ministry of Environment for solution as the issues were beyond the scopes of BDA and Natural Resources and Environment Board (NREB).
