BINTULU - Regiment 510 of 2nd battalion of the Territorial Army received a donation of furniture from Sarawak Progressive Democratic Party (SPDP) Kidurong branch, yesterday. The donation, comprising of five units of cabinet, 10 tables and 50 chairs, was handed over to Major Retan Giah by SPDP Kidurong chairman Thomas Ng on behalf of the branch's chairman Dato' Seri Tiong King Sing, who is also Member of Parliament for Bintulu. On behalf of the battalion, Retan thanked Tiong for the donation and said the furniture would be a big help in their recruitment exercise, training and office administration. SPDP branch secretary Jacky Chan said the donation was part of the party's going community service, especially to uniform bodies and rural schools. He said the donations were made possible with the assistance from Dotannah Engineering Sdn Bhd. The branch had previously donated 200 lockers to Bintulu Hospital and office furniture and equipment to a centre for the handicapped here.
