

[Inset your Picture Caption] BINTULU _ The Police Department and the relevant government agencies had been praised for their untiring efforts in the search and rescue mission to locate the four girls who went missing of Kuala Nyalau here. Bintulu Member of Parliament Dato' Seri Tiong King Sing said the commitment shown by the police in particular in providing a through service throughout the mission had gone beyond being questioned. "I am very happy with the efforts and seriousness being shown by the police even though their approaches were being disputed especially by the family members or the friends of the missing persons," he told reporters here on Sunday. He said police had sprung into action since being informed of the incident on August 18, when the four girls, Looi Li Shien, 15, Chew Sing Chien, 16, Chan Kin Nan, 16 and Pamelia Bong Kui Yan, 19, were reported missing in the secluded beach. Tiong said that it was the right of the police to interview those present during the incident as it was part of their investigation procedure. The investigation should not be regarded as encumbering the family members or witnesses at the site as the information could be crucial to facilitate the operation. "The police had done their best by coordinating search in the open sea as well as carrying out their investigation on shore. Without the cooperation of the family members and friends (of the victims0, the operation could not be carried out properly," he added. |
