BINTULU : Police here are now trying to relate the recovery of a female body about 10km off Miri coast here on Sunday with that of one of the girls reportedly missing near the beach within the Kuala Nyalau area last Monday.

Bintulu Police chief Supt Sulaiman Abdul Razak confirmed receiving report that a body of a female had been spotted by a personnel of an offshore platform in Siwa field near Kuala Bakam, Miri about 2.30pm on Sunday. "Form what we have gathered, the body that had been found was a little bit decomposed, a female clad in a reddish-coloured cloth," he told the Borneo Post here when contacted.

He also could not confirm of any apparent physical injury on the body but added that the corpse had been referred to the Miri General Hospital for a possible post mortem.

Earlier, Sulaiman added that the search and rescue mission continued into its sixth day on Sunday with the area of aerial coverage being extended between Kuala Miri in the north and southward to Mukah.

He also confirmed that two divers had also been deployed from the Marine Police Department based in Kuching to join in the search that had also drawn the support of Bintulu Meber of Parliament Dato' Seri Tiong King Sing.

Tiong throught the Barisan Nasional Bintuu People's Service Centre had also deployed a Nomad fixed winged aircraft and two helicopters to assist in the aerial mission since August 22.

The search and rescue operation was also beefed up with the arrival of a Royal Malaysia Air Force (RMAF) B200T fixed-wing aircraft from Labuan to extend the coverage to about 50 nautical miles near the coast, as well as up to 50 nautical miles offshore.

The missing girls were identified to be Looi Li Shien, 15, Chew Song Chien, 16, both from Perak, Chan Kin Nan, 16 and Pamelia Bong Kui Yan, 19, both of Kuala Lumpur. Prior to being reported missing, they were said to have been coming in for a vacation at the site, said to be a part of a private resort.

Another girl, Lorraine Bong, 22, a cousin of Pamelia managed to find her way back to the beach.
