

[Inset your Picture Caption] BINTULU - The State Government is working on a plan to develop Kampung Jepak, a fishing village across Kemena River here, into a modernized, attractive and leisure area for the people. Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Haji Dr Abdul Taib Mahmud said the move was in line with the comprehensive masterplan being drawn up for the development of Bintulu Town. He revealed that Bintulu Development Authority (BDA) had appointed a consultant to conduct a study pertaining to the blue print for the overall development of Bintulu. Taib pointed out that the blue print would ensure balanced development in Bintulu Town proper and as well as in areas across the river. "This is part of the government's plan to achieve its vision of transforming Bintulu into an industrial city in a garden by the year 2020," the Chief Minister added after chairman the BDA Board of Management meeting held at Wisma BDA yesterday morning. Taib was later briefed by the General Manager of BDA Datu Abang Helmi on the various proposed projects in Bintulu including the Milliennium Park in Sungai Terus. Also present were Deputy Chairman of BDA Dato' Seri Celestine Ujang and State Secretary Datuk Amar Abdul Azizi Husein. |
