03/03/2003:Fish Mongers to Give Full Cooperation to BDA
Date: Rural Visit

BINTULU: The Bintulu Development Authority is taking the necessary measures
to alleviate the problems faced by the fishmongers who still remained at a
temporary trading site eventhough the renovation works for the fish market
here had been completed about three months ago.

Bintulu Member of Parliament, Dato' Seri Tiong King Sing said BDA had
informed him that a dialogue session would be held with all the fishmongers
involved to discuss the matter.

"I am happy that BDA has taken the initiative to promote mutual
understanding with all the fishmongers and to avoid further
misunderstandings," he said in a statement released here on Monday.

He said that he was aware of the problems since the situation started and
had been in constant contact with BDA upon receiving a number of complaints
by the fishmongers against the local authority.

At the same time, he also wanted BDA to continue taking prompt action to
overcome the problems while extending his apology to the fishmongers over
the delay and inconveniences caused.

The fishmongers, meanwhile, were also advised to give their full cooperation.
