


Member of Parliament for Bintulu Tiong King Sing BINTULU: Dato' Seri Tiong King Sing who has been very vocal in fighting against incidence of vehicle theft here has become a victim recently when one of his four-wheeled drive vehicles was stolen. Revealing this at a gathering for his supporters in a Wednesday dinner a restaurant here, the Bintulu Member of Parliament described the theft as an unfortunate incident but thought that it could have been worst if it was experienced by less-privileged people. "I hope that whoever is involved (in vehicle theft) would think for a while about people who only could afford to buy a car once in their lifetime but ended up with their cars stolen and causing difficulty for them to move on," he added. While acknowledging that the police is not sparing any effort to curb the occurrence of such case, he saw the role of the public members were also of great importance to ensure that Bintulu could be free from such crime. He advised members of the public not to be easily hoodwinked by offers of vehicles tagged at unbelievable low prices as this had been one of the apparent strategies of vehicle theft syndicate to dispose off their loots. Automobile shop operators were also advised not to be involved in suspicious deals and to thoroughly check all the registrations and backgrounds of vehicles offered to them. |
