


UNITED FOR THE PEOPLE...(from left) Majang, Dr Rundi and Tiong fielding questions from reporters after the Bintulu BN divisional coordinating committee meeting BINTULU-The Divisional Barisan Nasional (BN) Coordinating Committee here have formed four bureaus that harnessed the resources of all its four components parties in the efforts to serve the rakyat in a more efficient and systematic approach. The decision to form the bureaus functioning each for education, development, health, safety and environment (HSE) and social and economics was reached at the committee's meeting here Saturday afternoon. Speaking to reporters after the meeting, the committee chairman, Dato' Seri Tiong King Sing said that the bureaus' formation were in line with the BN committee's directive for all divisional coordinating committees to look into new approaches to serve the people. It had been agreed at the meeting that the education bureau would be led by PBDS Bintulu chairman, Encik Majang ak Renggi, while the development bureau by Jepak state assemblyman and PBB divisional chief, Haji Talib Zulpilip. Kemena state assemblyman, Dr Stephen Rundi ak Utom, who is also the PBB Kemena divisional chief was chosen as the chairman for the HSE bureau while SUPP Bintulu chairman, Encik Michael Sim Kiam Hui would lead the Social and Economy bureau. "The formation of these bureaus reflected our determinations to serve the rakyat in a better way under the Barisan Nasional spirit, where instead of going on individual directions, we are all working as a team," he added. On another subject, Tiong added that the crisis affecting SNAP as well as his position in the party had not been carrying any bearing to his position in the BN divisional coordinating committee. He said that his appointment as the chairman of the committee was made by the BN national chairman, Dato' Seri Dr Mahathir Mohamad that had taken effect from last year until 31 July, 2003. Tiong emphasised that the coordinating committee was not formed just as BN preparation to face the parliamentary or state elections, but more towards committing all members of its component parties towards giving their best services to the rakyats. With the rapid progress that were taking place here, he added that the committee would also be duty bound to raise the rakyats' understanding over the introduction of new development programmes to maintain their strong support and cooperation.
