BINTULU: Kuching emerged champion in the Inter-Division Sarawak Closed and Veteran Badminton Championship 2002 hosted by Bintulu at Stadium Muhibah here from Aug 15 to 18, beating Miri and Bintulu to second and third place respectively. Sukma IX player Chong Cheong Yong of Kuching (Kg-Suk) lifted the title for the Men's Singles while Mohd Sofian (Kg-Suk) was second. In the Men's Doubles Section, Liu Min Hua pairing with Chang Chin Chen from Kuching was tops, edging Sibu's Columba Tiong/Ting Ming Wong to 2nd position. The winners in the Ladies Singles were Wendy Tan (Kg-Suk) in 1st place and Amy Lau (Sb-Suk) coming in second while the victorious Ng Siew Siong/Ang Lee Ching (Sb/Kg) pair beat Deane Lim/Michelle Tan (Kg) to position 2 in the Ladies Doubles.
