Crises In SNAP

BINTULU-The formation of another SNAP divisional committee in N30 Belawai is another evidence of the censured leaders of the party to hold onto their power by dictatorial approach.

The Member of Parliament for Bintulu, Dato' Seri Tiong King Sing, who expressed his concern with the latest development in the Belawai Division said the formation was another example of that showed the censured leaders to act on their own whims and fancy.

"Without respecting the party constitution, the earlier division had been properly recognised by the ROS (Registrar of Societies) and is there a need for the former leadership to set up another division and sidelining the endorsed committee under (Belawai Division Chief) Yusuf Bin Dor?" he said on Friday.

Tiong was referring to a newsreport in a local daily Friday where Yusuf revealed an attempt by a group of the party members under Encik Mustafa Hamdan to form another divisional committee and the move was purportedly approved by the censured leaders.

Describing the latest twist in Belawai Division as a re-occurrence of the Meluan case, Tiong said the situation should be sufficient for all members of the party to realise that as long as the censured leaders were around, SNAP would continue to be in chaos.

SNAP deputy president, Dato Sri Peter Tinggom ak Kemarau assumed the acting president post of the party after the incumbent, Datuk Amar James Wong Kim Min, was censured through unanimous decision at the National Council meeting on 23 June this year.

Yusuf in the report claimed that the decision made at the meeting was sufficient to reflect that Wong and the other censured leaders were no longer in power to decide over the affairs of the party.

He also lashed out at Mustafa for purportedly claiming the Belawai Division had "no voice" when the fact that SNAP members in the division had never failed to participate actively to voice their stand over the party matters.

Meanwhile, Tiong expressed his disappointment to Wong and his allys for still refusing to accept the decision made by the majority members at the National Council and such stand could affect the stability and strength of the party.

He also suggested the censured leaders to accept the advice made by the Prime Minister in the latter's speech in his visit to the State recently that should any leader is no longer popular, he should be stepping downˇKEND.
