BINTULU: A total of 24 SNAP divisions have urged the top leadership of Barisan Nasional to intervene into the crises in the party following claims by Datuk Amar James Wong Kim Min that he was still recognised as the party president. A joint statement by the divisions presented by the Kemena division chairman, Encik Liew Ah Lek said that Wong had also failed to elaborate that the National Council (NC) and the Trennial General Meeting (TGM) were the supreme decision makers in the party. He hope that Datuk Amar James Wong with his group should realise that SNAP does not belong to only a few people but to more than 140,000 members as a whole,” said Liew as he read the statement. While agreeing with Wong who claimed that the door of SNAP is always opened for all the party members, they questioned why was the party secretariat door was locked when the acting president, Dato Sri Peter Tinggom called for the Central Executive Committee (CEC) meeting on 29 May. They also questioned Wong and his group that despite being invited, had failed to attend the NC meeting on 23 June where about 75 percent of the total number of party members turned up. The divisions were also concerned with Wong’s remark that the present crises was just "A storm in a teacup" after he and his group came to the extend of applying for injunction to stop the first proposed NC meeting. While pledging their acceptance to the eventual court decision to set aside an interim injunction, they agreed that any party dispute should be best resolved in accordance with the party constitution. Wong was also called to respect the unanimous resolution adopted at the NC meeting which censured the party president, senior vice-president, secretary-general, deputy secretary-general and assistant secretary general. Adding that the meeting was done with transparency and democratic, they said that it was in the opinion of majority of the party leaders and grassroot members that the five was proven incapable to lead and solve the party’s crises. |
