Bintulu, Wednesday: The Bintulu Students' Parents Association (Persatuan Ibubapa bagi Pelajar-pelajar sekolah Bintulu) had been recently established here under the chairmanship of Keristupa Kesing Anak Kimay, which is located at Rh. Justine Balang, Mile 15 along Bintulu-Miri road.

Keristupa will be assisted by his deputy Subang ak Ajair, following by Chanda ak Aso as treasurer (assistant Inon ak Aso) and Mutu ak Aso as Secretary (Francis Endan ak Asit).

The committee members of the new formed association were Jumbun ak Roma, Musa ak Asit, Wat ak Beluka, Slang ak Pawong, Salih ak Anggat, Berawang ak Kuntai, Julia Umi ak Akir, Sanban ak Kamay and Chandi ak Kaya.

The association believed to be the first of its kind here was formed by a group of students' parents here aimed at fostering a closer relationship among themselves, as well as looking into matter.

Keristupa who disclosed this to the Borneo Post this morning said the association is open to all students' parents in Bintulu, irrespective of their races and religions.

In order to enable the association to carry out its objective efficiently, he said the fund would be raised through a fund raising campaign soon.  

In this respect, he called upon the students' parents and the public to contribute positively to the noble cause of the association.

He further pointed out that other than the recruitment drive for more members, the association's top priority now is to purchase a school bus to cater for more than 200 students residing between Bintulu Town and Rumah Juna at Mile 46, Bintulu-Miri road.

He said the irregular bus service along this stretch had been a majorproblem to the students in this area so far.

He also told the BP that the association hoped to have its own premises in the future, adding that the present one they have now is only on temporary basic.
