By doing so, he said that Su'ud not only had brought the authority a step
closer to the public but at the same time helping to uplift the image of the
authority concerned.

Tiong said that Haji Su'ud who is the present General Manager for BDA not just simply entertained public complaints but at the same time going down on the ground himself so as to be able to identify their problems, adding that in this way appropitate actions could be taken accordingly.

He said this in an exclusive interview with the Borneo Post at the Sarawak
National Party (SNAP) service centre in Parkcity near here yesterday.

Under him, Tiong said that the BDA  is now very well organised and efficiently run up to the expectation of the public. 

He stressed that, that  complaints were entertained almost instaneously was a reflection of the authority's caring attitude towards the people. This, he
said had been going on since the day he was elected as member of parliament for P190 Bintulu two years ago.

Tiong was informed that previously many similar complaints were not properly entertained, thereby, causing public disappointment and loss of confidence in the authority.

During his recent visit to the people in Bintulu town, Tiong received some
complaints from the hawkers at the central market, night market and Sunday markets respectively with regards to the environment of their respective business premises.

However, after a dialogue session with the BDA, Tiong said that the fish
market would be upgraded and that some of the old sun blinds would be replaced with new ones soon.

He said that similar renovation works at Tamu and erection of shelters by
Sunday Market stall owners at their own cost were also under consideration by the authority.

He called upon the people to give the BDA the full co-operation in the event
that the implementation of such projects, if approve would be in progress 
Dato' Sri also called upon the people not to simply throw unnecessary
allegations against the BDA, but instead highligting their problems in a
proper channel. 

In doing so, he said that the public could call the authority's hot line
provided that the complaints were genuine. He also said that the complainant
should identify themselves without fear, assuring that their identities would
not be disclosed. 

Tiong said that in any organisation, problems bound to crop up. However, he
said that such problems could be rectified in an amicable way...END.
