Bintulu, Wednesday: Member of Parliament for Bintulu, Tiong King Sing, today criticized a certain vernacular newspaper for false reporting over the delay in the construction of a courthouse in Bintulu.

He said this particular newspaper had falsely, accused Barisan Nasional Government for failing to realize its promise to deliver the courthouse.

Tiong said although the court building was not listed in the Barisan Nasional manifesto during the last general election, the Government still went ahead to build a court building in Bintulu in the best interest of the rakyat.

"I am saddened that the editorial policy of this newspaper chooses to incline towards the Opposition.  This is not the first time that this newspaper has done as such."

But this time the newspaper has blundered with its news reporting as the reporter concerned who filed in this news items did not hive his facts correct," he said.

Tiong lambasted the newspaper for being irresponsible over its reporting and added that if the newspaper editors artd reporters could have checkeds further, they would have known that the court development project was on schedule.

Although there has been some delay but this is just a teething problem relating to some technical aspects," he said.

Tiong said if the reporter and the editor had checked further with the relevant authority, they would have known, that the project had just been awarded to Paling Construction Sdn Bhd a few days ago.

He also said Barisan Nasional Government would deliver what it promised to the people and it would always look into the interest of the rakyat.

"It is just a matter of time.  Some projects will take off immediately but some don't.  For projects that do not take off immidiately there might be some problems but the BN Governman will ensure that these projects will be carried out in the best possitble ways,he said.

Tiong reminded newspapers to report news accurately and truthfully, saying that inaccurate news would only create dissatisfaction and misunderstanding among the, people who would then blame the BN Government.

"The Govemment's image is tarnished just because of inaccurate and false reporting.  This is definitely unfair for the Government to be blamed and it seems the Government will always be in the losing end," he added.
