| Bintulu, Monday: The member of parliament for P190 Bintulu Dato' Seri
Tiong King Sing JP expressed his disappointment toward the careless attitude
of personnel of welfare department here after receiving a few complaints
from the residents of 26 doors Rh. Joseph Sada, Sg. Selezu which razed
to the ground by gawai eve fire.
The fire which caused about 300 residents homeless with estimated RM600,000 property lost in the last Thursday early morning at 2:00, Tiong learned that most of the fire victims were forced to overnight beside the firescene in the raining night. Although the Divisinal Welfare Office was on leave, Dato' Seri Tiong said the personnel of the department should be sensitive to such urgent need of the fire victims. As informed by the headman of the longhouse, Joseph Sada, Tiong learned that the personnel of the relevant department promised to visit the fire scene that morning, however, failed to turn-up by excusing themselve with it was holiday. He said, as the personnel-in-charge snuggly in the warm bed, they should think of the fire victims who were force to flock themselves in the morning downpour. Following a lot of complaints of careless and smileless attitude of government servant of various department here which received via his people service centre here, Tiong said the matter was even brought to the attention of minister concerned during the parliamentary sitting. However, he was sad to learn that such complaints was received again. As a member of government department or agency, one should always realised their responbility to portrait the good image of the department in responding to the government's calls, so as to foster a closer relationship between the people and government.
