| BINTULU, Mon.-Non-government organisation (NGOs) and the Opposition have been told no to meddling into the controversial issue involving the Iban community's dispute with a plantation company over the compensation to be paid to the residents in Ulu Sepadok, Sebauh near here. Member of Parliament for Bintulu, Tiong King Sing in a press statement today warned these NGOs and the opposition not to play with fire and deliberately create other issues that could further worsen and complicate the situation. "These NGO and the opposition are not helping the Iban community to resolve the issue but giving the wrong advice", he said. He added that the opposition and the NGO should take full responsibility if the issue worsened and turned into an open conflict between the community and the plantation company. "They should put their grouses through proper channels as the management of the plantationcompany has entered the final stages of negotiations and there has been so much progress", Tiong said. He expressed confident that this matter can be resolved amicably and it is important that they should achieve a win-win situation, he added. | |
