Promise to Suai Longhouses of 4.5KM Road
BINTULU, Thurs.- Member of Parliament for Bintulu, Dato' Seri Tiong King Sing has fulfilled the dream of about 1,000 rural folks at Suai area when he personally contributed to construct a road there. These people have requested for a road for the past two decades and now the 4.5 KM stretch of road was linked to their longhouses.

Linked to Rumah Gerang, Sg. Puteh Suai, about 130 KM off from Bintulu town, the road has benefit people at Rumah Bada, Rumah Wing, Rumah Abok and SK Goyang.

Formerly, people there have to travel by 2-hour small sampan trip to Batu Niah before they can go to the nearby towns.

Dato' Seri Tiong made a visit to Rumah Gerang on the eve of Gawai recently.

Local community leader, Penghulu Atong urged the people to support the BN government for more development in their area.

He sincerely thanked Dato' Seri Tiong for fulfilling their dream of more than 2 decades.

"Tiong is a man of his words and he also paying equal attention and concern both to the town and rural area", he said.

Tiong in his speech said that only BN government could bring about development that would benefit the rural people. He said construction of roads to the longhouses is  vital part of such development as only with good accessible road that will bring the rural people closer to the main stream of development.

Thus, he urged the rural community to be considerated and sacrifice if a portion of their land is acquired for the purpose of constructing road to benefit the whole community.

"Land owners should not take chance for personal gain as if there is not road connecting these longhouses, the whole area will not be developed at all", he added.

Tiong has also promised to fight for allocation to fill the new road with gravels.

Earlier, he said that Rumah Gerang should strive to become the model longhouse in this area.

He alsopointed out that Bintulu MP has to look after about 630 longhouses in this vast constituency and thus people in the constituency have to be patient to waite for the fair distribution of the minor rural project (MRP) fund.
