19/05/2000: JKR Constructing Kidurong Road With Australia Technology
BINTULU, Fri.-The Public Work Department (JKR) is currently constructing a 6-Km Jalan Sebauh by using the latest Austrialian technology.

The reconstruction work is using cement stablization, premix and recycle materials from the old road.

Member of Parliament for Bintulu, Dato' Seri Tiong King Sing, accompanied by Divisional Engineer of JKR Bintulu, Mr Liew Jiu Ming and others officers inspected the reconstruction work recently.

Tiong said that the government is really concerned about the need for a good road to be used by the people. He said in the past decade, the authority has repeatedly sealed and repaired the road but it was still being damaged by the pressure from heavy vehicles.

Thus, he said the government has seeked for the new Austrialian technology hoping to solve the problem.

Mr Liew Jiu Ming hoped that such new road project will be approved
and built under the 8th Malaysia plan.

He said the 6-Km road costing about RM1.3 million is expected to be completed within 4 months.

Meanwhile, the authority has urged the people not to remove and
throw away road signs that are put up during the period of reconstruction.

They said such acts will pose hazard to the road users especially those travelling at night as the road has not street lightings.
