BINTULU, Fri.-Dato' Seri Tiong King Sing, Member of Parliament for Bintulu was shocked to receive complaints from patients that they have to waite for 3 days to get the outpatient treatment at the hospital here.

With such a complaint from the people in his constituency, Tiong made a spot check to the hospital here today. After interviewing some patients, he said some complaints are relevant.

Therefore, he urged the medical officers, doctors, nurses and medical staff at the hospital here that they should try their best to clear the daily patients.

Tiong told the press that he learn that some doctors and medical staff even went off to have their tea session outside the hospital.

"This should not be the case when the hospital is already suffering from shortage of doctors and they are in average 500 patients to be cleared daily", he said.

He suggested that medical staff should bring along with them foods and drinks to limit the waiting hours of the long queue out patients.

"Your professional ethics required you to put top priority to save human lifes and to provide services to treat the patients", he said.

From the informations he has gathered, Tiong said the outpatient department was closed when the term has came for the last patient. As such, this patient will have to get a new number and join the queue again.

This has wasted a lot of time especially for those patients who came all the ways from far away like upriver rural area, he said.

Tiong has forwarded such complaints to Divisional Hospital Director, Dr Hashim today.

Dr Hashim welcomed relevant complaints from member of the public.
However, he urged them to provide details and particulars to him so that investigations can be carried out and actions may be applied
