05/03/2000: Tiong to Fight for Fire Station for Sebauh
BINTULU, Wed.- Member of Parliament for Bintulu, Dato' Seri Tiong King Sing will fight for a fire station at Sebauh town.

He said that he will be officially meeting Federal Deputy Minister 
for Housing and Local Government, Datuk Peter Chin soon to discuss the matter.

Sebauh, a sub-district under Bintulu Division is about 45 Km from Bintulu. Several fire have occured to school buildings at the town these few years and it would take about an hour for the fire brigade from Bintulu to reach there.

At the moment there is a voluntary fire fighting squad at the town but their facilities and equipments are very limited.

Dato' Seri Tiong King Sing visited the Fire and Rescue Service Department here and attended a briefing yesterday afternoon.

After the briefing, he pledged to donate 15 fire fighting hoses as a temporary replacement of the burst hoses and mattresses for 
the standby room at the fire station here.

He said this personally contributions will enable the firemen to have a better welfare and to be more efficient in saving public properties in case of fire.

Meanwhile, he will also assist the department to fight for any allocations to buy new equipments and to improve the station here.

Acting fire station chief, Mr Abang Azmi Abang Annuar briefied the visitors on the history and latest development of the station.
