| BINTULU, Sat.-A pilot project using the Austrialian technologies to construct road is currently under experiemental stage at Jalan Tg. Kidurong here. The Public Work Department (JKR) is constructing the one Kilometre road which is costing about RM200,000. The new techno- logies is using cement stablization and special premix layer to withstand higher pressure and roughness from heavy vehicles. If this project is successful, the remaining 9KM of Tg. Kidurong Road will be reconstructed with the same technologies. Member of Parliament for Bintulu, Dato' Seri Tiong King Sing said that the authority concerned must ensure that the Tg. Kidurong Road is safe for road users although here is anexperiemental project to reconstruct the road. In a telephone interview yesterday, Tiong said that his service centre here has received several complaints on damaged road surface and pot-holes along the Tg. Kidurong Road. He said that this road is a vital economy link as there are several major petro-chemical industries and other related factories in this area. For the temporary measure, he urged the authority concerned to repair the damaged road surface and pot-holes so that it will not posing any hazard to the motorcyclists, he added. Special Assistant to Bintulu MP, Cikgu Teo and members of the welfare committee of Bintulu SNAP visited the Tg. Kidurong Road and the pilot project yesterday. | |
