19/03/1999: Matter of Manpower Shortage of Bintulu Hospital 
BINTULU, Fri.-Treasurer-general of Sarawak National Party (SNAP) Datuk Tiong King Sing will bring up the matter on the shortage of manpower at Bintulu General Hospital to the Ministry of Health in Kuala Lumpur.

He has promised to fight for that matter for the benefit of the people here.

In a press conference at the airport VIP room here this morning, Datuk Tiong who expressed his concern on Bintulu said that the number of patients going to government hospital has increased since the economic downturn. He many people who used tovisit 
the private specialist clinic orhospital will now turn to the 
government hospital as this will help to save their medical fees.

As such, he said there is a need to increase the manpower in the hospital as well as to upgarde its efficiency in servicing the people.

After reading an article in a local Chinese daily complaining 
the efficiency of one of the departments in the general hospital 
here this morning, Datuk Tiong has personally went to the hospital to understand the situation.

According to the newspaper report, a patient waited for over one hour for the body check-up but he was not served by the staff there. The report said that the patient was not entertained by the 
staff for further examination when he placed in the medical forms filled by the doctor in the early stage of checking in the box at the department. 

On this complaint, Datuk Tiong said that members of the public can make their complaints to the Divisional Health Officer Dr Mohd Raili bin Suhaili or Hospital Director Dr Hashim Hamzah.

He has also learnt that the hospital authority will accept feed 
back from the public and will try their best to improve their 
services.

"There will be one or two staff members who were not efficient in carrying out their job and the hospital higher authority need the right informations so to improve their weaknesses", he added
