On this special and most important celebration for the Chinese community, I would like to urge all my fellow friends and the people of Bintulu to appreciate and be grateful of the fact that we are able to celebrate the new year throughout Malaysia in a very peaceful and harmonious atmosphere. With our country's economy bouncing back, let all of us hope that this Dragon year will brings longevity, stability and prosperity.

I also would like to encourage the non-Chinese friends to take this opportunity to visit our fellow Chinese friends or associates on this special day as it is a known fact "Chinese New Year" is actually a Malaysian celebration.
