| Bintulu, Tuesday: About 250 residents of Rh. Jaraw will enjoy their coming Gawai Festival in extra exhilarating moods following the commissioning of their tap water supplies that matearilized by Dato' Seri Tiong King Sing. For the past 16 years, residents of Rh. Jaraw at 16 KM Bintulu-Kidurong road had to look for other water resources for daily use such as rain water or river water before their plight was brought up to Tiong, member of Parliament here. Addressing at the longhouse this afternoon, Dato' Seri Tiong urged the people to treasure and be graceful to the BN governmentthat always looks after the welfare and well-beings of the people. Tiong said, only BN government is able to uplift the basic infrastructures and amenities, such as water supplies for the longhouse and upgrade the living standards of people in lines with its development policy. Thus, he urged the people here for rendering their full supports to the BN in coming State General Election. He said there are more than 600 longhouses and Kampungs in P190 Bintulu vast constituency alone, therefore, Tiong urged the people to use the proper channel so as their problems could be solved amicably and efficiently. Earlier, Tiong also handing over his personal grant of RM8,000 to the longhouse, so as to subsidize and expedite the installation of water supplies to 48 families respectively before Gawai Festival in coming June. He said, allocation for the RM21,000 water supplies project is subsidized by Minor Rural Project (MRP) Funds which is expected to be released by the year-end. However, he explained that it would be late for the longhouse as its residents all hoping the project could be completed before the coming Gawai Festival. Meanwhile, TR. Jaraw anak Sumok on behalf of about 250 longhouse residents to extend their heartiest thanks to Tiong who is being so concern and sensitive with the rural people affairs. For the past decade, he said the residents here had through various means to apply for water supplies. Also present at water commissioning ceremony were Tiong's special assistant Teo Ho Ping (Cikgu Teo), Chairman for SNAP Kidurong Branch Jackson Tubam, Vice Chairman Goh Chin Ping, Chairman for SNAP Kemena Branch Liew Ah Lek and members of Tiong's people welfare section. | |
