| BINTULU, Mon.-Bintulu Lin's Clan Association has organised its 10th anniversary dinner cum the new millennium Chinese New Year gathering at the Civic Centre here last Saturday night. At the dinner 15 members received long service award for serving the asociation for the past 10 years. The association also awarded Ang Pow to 19 senior citizens who are 65 years old and above. The most senior male, Ling Yok Tung, 94 and more senior female Wong Cho Tee, 84 were awarded a gold medal. Guest of honour Dato' Tiong King Sing in his speech thanked every body for their support to assist BN to wrest back the seat from the opposition in the recent Parliamentary election. He said to thank their support he will do his best to serve the people here. He also pledged to bring in more development to Bintulu and the State of Sarawak so that Sarawakians can contribute meaningfully to the nation building. Dato' Tiong said that the new millennium will be full of hopes and challenges as high technology and the lastest information However, he urged the people not to misused IT like the internet to spread rumours. These people who did not dare to leave their names are most irresponsible people and such acts should be stopped immediately, he said. Also present at the night function were State Assemblyman for Kidurong, Mr Michael Sim, President of Bintulu Federation of Chinese Associations, Mr Ting Siew Ching, Datuk Yek Min Ek and other local community leaders. | |
