| BINTULU, Sat.-The people here are urged to support the Barisan Nasional candidatein the forthcoming general election so that more developments will be implemented in the constituency. Making the call here, Treasurer-General of Sarawak National Party (SNAP), Dato' Tiong King Sing said that voters should give the BN a chance to serve the people better in the next 5 years. He regreted that less developments were implemented in the rural areas in Bintulu constituency after BN was defeated in the last general election. "If BN can gain victory this time, we will continue the on-going projects and try our best to bring more projects to benefit the people", he added. Dato' Tiong was speaking to party members and supporters at a dinner function at a local restaurant here last night. Tiong was expected to be fielded by the BN to contest for Bintulu Parliamentry seat in the general election to be held on November 29. Presently, DAP's Chiew Chin Sing hold the seat after he defeated SNAP's president Datuk Amar James Wong in the last election. Tiong also called party members and supporters to turn out infull force during nomination on November 20 and polling on November 29. "You have to sacrifice your precious time in this 18 days to ensure that BN will gain victoty", he said. Tiong said BN victory means it is the victory for all. Earlier, he said that as a politician, he is sincere to serve the people here. "I will try my best to fulfill my promises.If it is not materialised today, I will try again tomorrow", he assured. Dato' Tiong has also called on all the BN component parties here to work together as a family and they should forget all the unsatisfactory matters in the past. He said there were some misunderstandings occured in the last general election and the party's president, Datuk Amar James Wong has asked him to apologise to Bintulu people for areas that he (James Wong) may has neglected. Acting chairman of SNAP Kidurong, Mr Michael Law said that Dato' Tiong was born in Bintangor and expanded his businesses throughout Malaysia. He said Tiong has chosen Bintulu as he will be able to serve the people here better. "Dato' Tiong was a sincere politician as he has visited all the 629 longhouses in the constituency just in a short period of time", he said. He added that the people here should give Tiong a chance to serve them in the next 5 years. More than 300 people, including top office-bearers of SNAP Kidurong, Kemena and Jepak branches attended the dinner function last night. | |
