| BINTULU, Thurs.-Treasurer-general of Sarawak National Party (SNAP), Dato' Tiong King Sing responded to Member of Parliament for Bintulu, Chiew Chin Sing on the challenge by the former to prove the land ownership for the residents of longhouses who have been raising the Barisan Narional's flags. "I actually hesitate in responding to such a challenge because it seems immature and irrelevant. We have plenty of tasks and services in assisting the people which are certainly far more important than this issue", he said. Tiong said that this BN flag raising issue is the right of any individual or Malaysian in showing their genuine and sincere support to the BN, who is the present government. The question on whether the long house residents have any land ownership grant is not the issue here as it is a fact that most of the residents there have been residing there for many many years, he said. Tiong said that he was shocked with the challenge from the DAP because indirectly, the DAP are denying the land and house ownership rights of the Iban society. He stressed that if that is so why are the DAP members visiting these so-called "illegal" Iban society all these years trying to gain their support. | |
