| BINTULU, Sat.- Sarawak National Party (SNAP) operation director for Bintulu Parliamentary election, Dato' Tiong King Sing said that the people are expressing their support to the Barisan Nasional government by raising BN flags in their own properties. Responding to the issue of BN flag raising as disputed by the Bintulu DAP's Chiew Chin Sing, Tiong said that the accusation against BN chairman, Dato' Seri Dr Mahathir was wrong. He said the Prime Minister statement on such issue was pointing at political parties flag raising at places whereby it is unknown or inhabitants, such as on the top of the trees, hill and roadsides. Dato' Tiong has clarified that the statement made by the opponent party has purportedly created confusion among the people here. He also strongly denied that campaigns has been carried out before the election. Tiong also pointed out that there was nothing wrong to raise flag on land or buildings of privated owned properties. However, he do not agreed if the flags were to be raised in public places without obtained prior permission from the relevant authorities. "Through my observation, the raising of BN flags in Bintulu are strictly on privately owned land or buildings. So, what is wrong with that? ", he asked. Tiong was impressed that individuals and groups who raised the BN flags on their premises are honest and sincere in showing their open support to the present government. On behalf of SNAP, a component party of the BN, he would like to thank the strong support of the poeple here and hopefully that BN will return to win the Bintulu Parliamentary seat to ensure more developments for the people here. | |
