| BINTULU, Tues.-Treasurer-General of Sarawak National Party (SNAP) Datuk Tiong King Sing has admitted that SNAP has not contributed much to the Chinese community here especially to the Chinese education in the past. He apologized for the little contributions to the development of Speaking at a dialogue session between him and members of Bintulu Federation of Chinese Associations (BFCA) at Li Hua Hotel here Answering a straight forward question raised by the chairman of Persatuan Peniaga Mee Bintulu, Mr Ting Sii Toh on what is his purposes of coming to Bintulu to service the people, Datuk Tiong said it has been the directive from the party president. He further clarified that he has not intention to control the businesses here and he is not capable of doing so. He explained that after months of considerations, he finallyaccepted "I will commit myself by actions as this will tell how best I can service the people here", he added. Datuk Tiong King Sing also reported a good news that the long He said TV3 has sent their crews here to do the land survey works and the Bintulu Development Authority(BDA) has in principal agreed to allocate a piece of land for the station. He added that the survey works is scheduled to be completed by this week and once construction begin, the station will be able to be completed in a few months time. Datuk Tiong also disclosed that they will organise a cleaning campaign before August in conjunction with the National Day celebration to be centred in Bintulu. He urged the people, especially those in the town to participate in the campaign to make their place clean. However, Datuk Tiong said the government procedure need to tender the project so, he urged the hawkers to bear with the situation for a while. Earlier, President of BFCA, Mr Ting Siew Ching has thanked Datuk Tiong King Sing for spending his precious time to discuss social He said members are encouraged to bring out matters and problems at the meeting for Datuk Tiong to assist in whatever ways he can. On Chinese education, Mr Ting also disclosed that the newly elected committee members of BFCA has formed a committee to set up a Chinese middle school in the division. He said the committee was headed by him and the assistant organising chairman was Mr Pau Chiong Ung. The secretary was Mr Yong Ung Hee and the committee members will be chosen from the Chinese community. The committee is expected to go to Sibu by next week and hold a dialogue session with a Chinese middle school there | |
