25/01/1999:Youths Urged to Support BN to Overcome Economic Turmoil
BINTULU, Mon.-Youths are urged to be united and support the Barisan Nasional Government to further improve and  overcome the current economic turmoil.

Stated this here last night, Treasurer-general of Sarawak National Party(SNAP), Datuk Tiong King Sing said that with their support, our country will be able to portray to the rest of the world that we have a very stable and strong government.

He said only with political stability and strong government will able to restore confidence to the foreign investors to invest in our country, thus bringing in prosperity and create more job and business opportunities.

Addressing at the opening of the 1999 Bintulu open basketball tournament at the basketbal stadium here last night, Datuk Tiong King Sing said that the government has responded positively and laid down a lot of policies and measures to revive the economy since the economic crises occured in our country in 1997.

"Our youths should appreciate and be grateful that we still live in peace and harmony compared to riots, racial and religious disorder, unemployment in our neighbouring countries", he said.

Datuk Tiong King Sing said, as a treasurer-general of SNAP, he will try to look into all aspects on the needs of all the people.

He said as rakyat of Malaysia, we must considered to be lucky as all the basic amenities and infrastructures are avialble.

He thanked the organising committee for organising this tournament and the players, some from Kuching,Sibu and Miri for taking part in the game.

Nine teams are vying for the titles jointly organised by the youth section of SNAP Bintulu and Bintulu Basketball Association.

The participating teams are Jin San 100, Bintulu Distri Park Sdn Bhd, Jin San Transport Contractor Sdn Bhd, SMS Contractor, Pot Black, Eagle, P.A.M.B., Y.K. and Bintulu SNAP.
The final and closing ceremony will be held at 8.30pm on January 31.
