STRATEGIES

BDA is adopting a two fold development plan to achieve both its social, economic and environmental objectives:-

1. Strategic Planning

To develop a well-balanced development strategy

To achieve the foregoing objectives through:-

the development of a properly planned industrial areas to promote and stimulate its economic growth; and

the development of a well-planned town to create a pleasant and conducive living environment.

2. Promoting Social Development

providing social amenities to enhance the life of the community;

promoting social interaction among the people through community services; and providing healthy and clean physical environment through our local authorityÕs services.

3. Human Resource Development

Recognising the importance of performance, professionalism, co-operation, mobility, creativity and loyalty of our employees through:-

Placing employees in jobs best suited to their abilities and performance;
promoting employees capabilities through basic and advanced training programmes and to develop qualified management personnel; and

managing co-operatively on the basis of information, delegation, management by objectives, mutual respect and teamwork.

4. Corporate Management

To achieve Total Quality Management through:-

including participative management, teamwork and integrated values;
instilling total involvement and creation of necessary organisational culture to enable quality services to develop;
flexibility in adopting to the changing environment;
projecting a fair and caring corporate image;
enhancing financial management;
providing diversified effective, efficient, and quality services;

the provision of excellent services based on the requirements and standards of MS ISO 9000.

VISION:

We aspire to be a dynamic corporatised leader in delivering excellent municipal, development and consultancy services.

MISSION:

Together in partnership with the residents, we want to develop Bintulu into a well-planned and harmonious city through the provision of quality municipal services and continuous social and economic development services.

OBJECTIVES:

The objectives of BDA are as follows:-

To promote, stimulate, facilitate and undertake economic & social development;
To promote and coordinate further industrial and tertiary development;
To promote, develop and manage residential and industrial estate;
To promote, assist and develop trade, commerce and industry;
To promote and increase productivity of industry and to encourage more efficient utilization of natural resources;
To provide facilities and amenities for the advancement and well being of people living and working within the designated area;
To make such recommendations to the Chief Minister of Sarawak as the BDA sees fit in relation to any measures which it considers would achieve an increase in trade and development; and

To undertake such other functions as the Chief Minister may from time to time direct.
