18/05/2008: RM950,000 allocated for road construction and social amenities

BINTULU: The Regional and Rural Development Ministry has allocated RM950, 000 for road construction and social amenities in Bintulu Constituency this year.

This was disclosed by its Minister Tan Sri Mohammad Taib in his reply to Bintulu Member of Parliament Dato Seri Tiong King Sing during ‘question and answer’ time at Dewan Rakyat recently.
 

He also told Tiong that the improvement of the road in Kampung Hilir in Ulu Sebuan was scheduled to take off next month.

Mohammad also pointed out that his Ministry had approved to allocated RM293.95 million this year to upgrade the infrastructure and utilities in Sarawak.

These included, construction of roads in rural areas (RM107.95 million), rural water supply (RM76.5 miillion), rural electricity project (RM97 million) and social amenities (RM10 million.

Mohammad added that  his Ministry had also proposed to give additional allocation under the 9th  Malaysia Plan of which the said proposal was currently under consideration by the Economic Planning Unit in Prime Minister’s Deparment.

He also said the additional allocation amounting RM2.74 billion would be channeled to coffers of Sarawak State government for implementation of various development projects.

He said Public Works Department in Sarawak would carry out 21 projects worth RM6.4 million pertaining to the Rural Electricity Scheme this year in the State.
