27/02/2008:  BN Candidate Tiong King Sing visits Former DAP State Assemblyman Wong Sing Ai after being Hospitalised

A TESTE OF FRIENDSHIP: Datuk Seri Tiong (Second right) has a light moment with Wong in the hospital. On the right is Hii Fong Yong, chairman of Bintulu Coffee Shop Proprietors' Association, and on the left is Senator Pau Chiong Ung.
BINTULU: It doesn't matter that one has different political views with another as the election fever heats up. Friendship and the goodwill in the Malaysian spirit will melt all differences away.

This is how the friendship of DAP's Wong Sing Ai and SPDP's Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing was tested in the current election campaign.

Wong, the former Kidurong State Assemblyman from DAP, suddenly collapsed on Monday evening and was hospitalised.

The news got to Tiong within half an hour, and being close friends, Tiong left behind his election work and rushed to the hospital to see his buddy.

Wong, on the other hand, might have been sick, but, when the ailing man saw Tiong visiting him, he was touched and the mood in the ward lighted up.

The two friends put their different political views aside and were drowned in laughters.

Tiong asked Wong to take care of his health and not to worry about the election fever that was heating up.

He said tongue in cheeks to Wong that "let's fight again when you are get well again".

Wong took the joke well and the mood in the hospital ward was melted in the warmth of their friendship.

Although the pair are from different political parties, they have both been attending social functions together and have even sung together.

This is what politics in Malaysia sis about. It helps builds the country through friendship and team work. Even if one has different views with another, things still get done through the virtue of understanding and tolerance. That is how Malaysians have surged forward for half a century after it gained independence.
