| BINTULU: The Bintulu
Member of Parliament Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing said yesterday he was satisfied
with the police’s progress in handling the gangsterism and security issues
in Sarawak.
When asked for his comment on the arrest of a gang leader in Bintulu over the weekend, Tiong, who is also a Justice of the Peace, said the people should let the police complete their investigation without any interference. “Therefore, it is not proper for me or anyone else to make comment at this stage. All that I can say is, the police are all out doing about their work after I have brought up the security issue to parliament.” He also said he could not comment on the many arrests reportedly made throughout the State with assistance of the Bukit Aman police. He did however say:
“If we want to see law and order restored, we must all play our part.”
“Although they (criminal) will have to face the music for their wrong-doing, the community must be willing to accept those who want to change.” He urged the people to have faith in the legal system of the country, saying that the law was fair to all and no one was above it. “Think of your loved
ones – your wife, children and parents. They are all waiting for you. If
you don’t change while you still have a chance, you will regret it when
you are arrested later,” he called on the gangsters still out there.
